The Axiom will be housed in a 6,000 square foot building at 2130 Montgomery Street (1 Block East of Myers). The opportunities we plan to provide are directly related to how close we get to our financial goal. If our goal is met, than we plan to have the following: coffee shop, snack bar, internet access, pool tables, foosball, air hockey, video arcades and games, a quality concert venue, a place for skill development particularly as it relates to sound, recording music, and video production, as well as tutoring, mentoring, counseling, and access to other local community resources and services. Hours Open: We have a 3 phase start-up plan. Phase 1 allows us to open our doors Tuesday through Friday after school to develop our staff and work out the kinks that come along with a new project like this. Phase 2 moves will extend our time through Saturday into the evening, and potentially would include a limited lunch service, as well as the development of additional services and resources. Phase 3 will include the full development of additional services and resources as well as development of partnerships with other local organizations that are committed to youth. Staffing: On site staff is of top priority for us. We cannot honor our primary value of creating a safe place if we have not effectively staffed the center. At the very minimum, there will be at least 2 staff people on site and time the doors are open for use; as well as an operating staff ratio of at least 1 staff person per 15 students. We envision that one day we will have a full team of qualified and committed paid staff offering a variety of professional services; however, at this point, the success of The Axiom will be directly connected to the support of qualified local volunteers who give their time. All staff paid or volunteer will undergo a thorough application process and a full background check. All staff must not only be cleared by the facility manager, but by The Axiom Advisory Team as well. Specific training regarding work with adolescence will be provided and required for all staff. If youre interested in volunteering your time, please download this application here. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it. You can drop it by the center or mail it to 2130 Montgomery St. Oroville, CA 95965. |
